Experts in the business of feeding wild birds.
Welcome! In this section,
you will find links to North America organizations
offering information and products you may find
useful in your pursuit of backyard
feeding. American Seed Trade Association Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology Migratory
Bird Conservancy National
Fish and Wildlife Foundation Here's how it
works: a company makes a tax deductible
contribution, either an outright donation or a
dedicated portion from the sale of its products.
For example, the Institute has committed $2500 in
'98; Swarovski will give a percentage from each
binocular and scope sold in the Western Hemisphere,
which might be as much as $50,000
annually. The funds will be
pooled and matched by up to $100,000 by the
National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NWFW) in
Washington, which will manage the program. A
committee that includes people from the business
community then will select priority habitat
conservation projects to be funded with this
money. Grantees will be
required to match those funds, which means that $1
contributed by business will grow to $3 in "on the
ground" conservation. NWFW is permitted to use only
the interest earned by those funds for
administrative overhead. Thus 100 cents of every
dollar contributed will be used for its intended
purpose. The Bird
Conservation Fund provides the bird feeding
industry with an innovative program to demonstrate
its commitment to birds and their habitat - -
something critical to each of us. It also will give
WBFI and your company a high yet cost effective
profile within the conservation community and among
the wild bird feeding public. The Fund concept
was developed specifically for this industry, and
you are strongly encouraged to join us. Send your
contributions to: MBC/NFWF For latest
