Just Feed Birds and Make a World of Difference

Droll Yankees Inc.®, makers of The World’s Best Bird Feeders® for over 35 years, has developed a campaign called Just Feed Birds and Make a World of Difference. This initiative’s purpose is to educate people about the importance of feeding backyard birds and benefits they may experience.

Here’s what Droll Yankees wants everyone to know:

Aside from the enjoyment aspect of this hobby shared by millions of people who feed birds in their backyard, (National Fish and Wildlife surveys indicate that over 60 million Americans feed wild birds) there’s also a very real environmental benefit. In the name of progress, wildlife habitats have been destroyed and bird populations have suffered. Studies have shown that when nesting birds have ready access to food, the fledge rates of the nestlings increase. In plain English, more baby birds survive when their parents don’t have to spend as much time looking for food.

All things in nature are connected and by feeding birds individuals can make a difference in their immediate environment, a difference that has far reaching effects as biodiversity in their yard improves and returns to balance.

Here’s what DY is doing to create greater awareness in 2006:

The company is developing and producing buttons, lapel pins, decals, bookmarks and other products to promote this initiative. These products will be available through local independent retailers. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these and all other Droll Yankees products is donated to causes that support wild birds and their habitats. For more information, visit the Droll Yankees web site at www.drollyankees.com.
