  • Best Bird Feeding Practices - Ambassadors will learn about best feeding practices, including ethics and safety.
  • Meet & Identify Your Local Birds  - Ambassadors will increase their base knowledge on matching feeder and feed types to attract specific bird species. Additionally, participants will be introduced to avian migration.
  • Attracting Birds to New Feeders - For ambassadors still missing a variety of avian visitors, we will cover building a better backyard buffet.
  • Unfeathered Feeder Friends - Learn about the ways that you can encourage or deter critters that pay visits to your bird feeder!
  • Community Science in Action - Ambassadors will receive training on using eBird, iNaturalist, and other community science tools to further their feeder impact!

The WBFI encourages hobbyists to create content about the hobby of feeding. If your family, classroom, or birding group is interested in participating, please send us photos and videos of you and/or your children engaging in any birding hobbies such as:

  • Setting up your bird feeder
  • Filling up your bird feeder
  • Birds visiting your feeder
  • Cleaning your bird feeder

Want to donate bird feeding products?

WBFI Members are encouraged to participate by sending a variety of bird seeds, feeders, feeder products, educational materials, and accessories to ambassadors. WBFI will help you coordinate shipping. In exchange for these efforts, you can receive content to share to their page and get feedback from ambassadors on their products!

Other goals of the program:

  • Promote and understand the benefits of the hobby of bird feeding through a broad view of perspectives and backgrounds
  • Connect our members with active consumers to promote the hobby and best practices
  • Gain insight into hobbyist’s purchasing decisions and hobby habits
  • Expand and further develop opportunities to get more people engaged with bird feeding
  • Broaden our network and reach to communities underserved or with limited access to the hobby
  • Provide helpful information and educational material
